The character of Akhedzhakova lives with memories of the past, in her memory are traditions and orders from childhood. She is domineering and accustomed to decide everything for others. She unsuccessfully looks for the right bride for her son. And then one day she decides to take an important step: she goes to her hometown and brings back a young beauty, the heiress of a proven family. It would seem that everything is going well, but a clear plan for arranging the new world in the old way is collapsing. The son opposes the marriage imposed by his mother, and the bride brought is not quite what she imagined...

This is a funny and at the same time tragic melodrama, written in the late 80s, and today it does not lose its relevance: the topics of intergenerational relationships, racial issues and the breadth of the human soul will always be of interest.
